The residents of Palermo have risen in protest after pop star Dua Lipa and actor Callum Turner's lavish three-day wedding celebration effectively sealed off parts of the Sicilian capital, transforming public spaces into a private playground for the global elite.
A London Ceremony, A Sicilian Spectacle
The Grammy-winning singer, 30, and the actor widely tipped as the next James Bond, 36, legally married at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London last weekend. The ceremony was a modest affair, attended only by close family and friends, with the couple showered in confetti as they left the venue as husband and wife.
But modesty gave way to excess this week when the newlyweds relocated to Sicily for the second leg of their nuptials, an estimated £1.5million extravaganza with a guest list featuring Sir Elton John, Charli XCX, Tame Impala, and Mark Ronson. Donatella Versace personally designed the bride's second dress.

Two town squares in Palermo have been closed to the public, with those living nearby compelled to sign non-disclosure agreements to prevent details of the celebrations from leaking. Roads have been shut, no-drone zones enforced, and a heavy police presence deployed to protect the couple's privacy.
